I don’t know how I got to this book, I don’t remember it. Surely looking for something new and stimulating to read on this very website, and I’m glad I found it.
Cocaine tells us about a year in the life of Daniel, a cocaine addict, a frustrated writer, a boy from Madrid, like so many others, who has an addiction that he is aware of and that is shown to us as a diary. A diary written in the second person, without a doubt an original element.
The novel engages you, like the main substance, and doesn’t let you go until the end. Daniel’s style is vibrant, concise, direct and elaborate. A book written by a literary lover and you can tell he hasn’t put a single word to chance.

J’ai regardé ce film ce soir. C’était plutôt bien si vous voulez voir un ours en cocaïne, mais honnêtement, j’aurais aimé qu’il y ait plus de scènes de mort. Mon SO l’a quand même bien aimé. Il ne dure que 90 minutes.

I went and saw it with some coworkers on Thursday night. We all loved the commitment to the bit, and there was some pretty long callbacks that showed someone put some thought into it. Everyone in the theatre seemed to like it too. I could have done with a touch less gore in a couple of the death scenes Spoiler: particularly the cubs eating the entrails and the gurney scene. Sometimes, when the story would switch to another subplot, the entire theatre kinda groaned/laughed but I think it worked fine for a ridiculous movie with 6 subplots and like 20 non-bear characters in 90 min. Overall, it definitely exceeded my expectations, though I refused to see any trailers before going in, so I only had the name “Cocaine Bear” to go off of.
